It’s easy to change
your stripes with the Saint Louis Green Zebra!

An exciting new fundraising animal is going to be on
the loose - the St. Louis Green Zebra, a project of
Washington University’s Green Action Committee
and Greenside Up! Productions. The St. Louis Green Zebra
is a coupon book, educational resource and directory
for local healthy and sustainable living. The first
Green Zebra book was published by a small dedicated
group in San Francisco in 2006 and was warmly received
by a growing local green movement. The busi¬ness
has since added 2008 editions of the book for Palo Alto
and Marin County, California and has licensed the book
to independent publishers in Lon¬don and Vancouver
and now St. Louis.
Through valuable discount passes and informative articles,
Green Zebra teaches consumers how to embrace a healthier
lifestyle while saving thousands of dollars. The first
section of the guide will be a thirty page educational
section covering local projects, personal health, community
growth and environmental preservation. It will offer
sponsored pages with practi¬cal tips to help St.
Louisans lead more eco-friendly lives, and to make informed
choices about the products and services they purchase.
The remaining 200 pages will feature coupons to businesses
that have proven themselves sustainable by meeting strict
guidelines.
The St. Louis Green Zebra is scheduled to be released
October 2008 with 5,000 copies printed on 100% post-consumer
recycled paper and sold at an estimated price of $20.
All coupons will be good until January 2010.
All students should be aware of the local movement
to go green, so a Green Zebra school fundraiser is a
natural fit. Local schools raise money and support a
good cause by having students competitively sell the
Green Zebra. Schools only pay for what is sold and keep
half of the profit from every book.
The 2009 Saint Louis Green Zebra is now offering sponsorship
packages at the one, two and six thousand dollar levels.
Businesses or organizations that are community leaders
in healthy and sustainable living are welcome. For further
