PARENTS
SPEAK ABOUT CLIMBING ROSE KINDERGARTEN
By Glenda Moore
In order to evaluate my ongoing work with the children,
I asked my currently enrolled parents to write about
their experiences here at Climbing Rose Waldorf Kindergarten.
Geoff and Stephanie Irvine, who have enrolled both their
children in the school, wrote the following:
Glenda has a deep love and respect for each child in
the kindergarten. She has the uncommon gift of seeing
the best in each child and, moreover, has the ability
that only comes with years of experience and knowledge
to help the child build on their strengths while guiding
and developing them in areas where they are not so strong.
At home we have noticed differences in how our children
played, spoke and behaved. One example that stands out
is that the children have developed a focus and ability
to play for extended periods. Their play is imaginative
and creative and does not require the constant stimuli
of an adult to sustain.
Glenda has become much more than our children’s
kindergarten teacher. She is a trusted advisor, a sage
in dealing with the myriad trials and tribulations of
parenting. The level of knowledge and understanding
that Glenda demonstrates when working with children
is rarely seen. She is aware of and connected to our
daughter and son in a way that only a parent usually
is. We have benefited from a level of care and concern
for our children’s education and development that
in our assessment is the very best. Our children have
blossomed under the guidance of Glenda.
Rachel Presley, who has also been with the school for
four years, writes:
Ms. Glenda is loving, kind, and has created a charming
environment for children to learn, grow and develop.
….The Climbing Rose Kindergarten has become a
home-away-from-home for our girls and a very special
part of their upbringing. … It is a very supportive
community that makes the task of raising a young child
easier. … My husband and I would highly recommend
this school to any family interested in Waldorf education
and/or a loving environment for their young child.
Elaine Branding writes: Our daughter Frances has had
three glorious preschool years at Climbing Rose. She
has had rich exposure to language, art, song, creative
expression and outdoor play. She has learned through
Glenda’s steadfast example the value of kindness,
patience, cooperation and respect for others. Her imagination
has soared and she has thrived in an environment that
cherishes the wonder of young children.
I could not include all the parents’ kind words
about their experiences at this Waldorf school but I
am deeply grateful to be engaged in such meaningful
and joyful work with young children and their parents.
