Louis Aquatic Healing Center
The Saint Louis Aquatic Healing Center was founded
in 1993 by Kathleen Christ, a state and nationally certified
massage therapist. Kathleen offers aquatic therapy,
massage, exercise and detoxification therapies that
allow natural healing towards creating optimum health.
The aquatic therapies are given in a warm, 95 degree
indoor pool. The warmth and buoyancy of the water promote
deep relaxation, relief of stress and easing of pain
that permits the therapist to work more deeply and effectively.
The primary therapy is Watsu or warm water shiatsu massage.
The client is cradled with her head above water and
gently swayed, stretched and massaged. This gentle form
of shiatsu opens the flow of chi energy along the meridian
channels throughout the body, revitalizing the internal
organs and relaxing the muscles. Watsu de-contracts
the body as it transports the mind into a state of deep
meditative peace. Wassertanzen or Waterdance is a more
vigorous, underwater therapy that requires the client
to hold her breath as she is stretched and twirled.
It is relaxing and energizing. Ai Chi, done in the water,
is derived from tai chi, the ancient Chinese method
of slow rhythmical exercise. Kathleen offers instruction
in the Tibetan Five Rites, an ancient series of movements
that rejuvenates the body. She also gives regular Swedish
and Deep Tissue Massage.
Saint Louis Aquatic Healing Center offers the following
detoxification therapies: the Far-infrared sauna uses
a safe, low temperature radiant heat to sweat out toxins;
the Ionic Foot Soak is a foot bath that uses negative
ions to draw out toxins through the feet; Ear Candling
removes wax and toxic debris from the ear; Acugraph,
a computer program that measures the flow of energy
through the acupressure meridians, diagnoses the general
health of different organs in the body. A laser light
applied to corresponding acupressure points, rebalances
the energy flowing through the organs.
